Thermage Vs Medi Plus: Which is Better?
Medi Plus or Thermage?
Which is better: Medi Plus or Thermage?
Both Medi Plus and Thermage are med-aesthetic and cosmetic application treatment devices that utilise Radio Frequency technology to treat both face and body.
However, there are significant differences between the two devices and their results.
Firstly, it should be noted that Medi Plus is the latest Radio Frequency device to enter the market and as such has significant recent technologolical improvements.
Whereas, Thermage is an older device and that has been on the market for a number of years and as such lacks some of the more modern and effective technological advances.
Mono Polar Vs Bi-Polar Radio Frequency
The first thing to note is that Thermage is a Mono-Polar Radio Frequency device, compared to Medi Plus, which has the superior Bi-Polar Radio Frequency technology.
The Medi Plus device takes advantage of the action of Bi-Polar Radio Frequency. On each hand piece, there are in fact three, four, or six electrodes, between which the passage of Radio Frequency waves takes place. The waves pass from one electrode to another in a horizontal action, and only affect the skin layers which have an aesthetic problem, thus causing highly efficient and completely safe treatment for the patient.
Why have one when you can have two!
Differences in Patient Comfort
Another significant difference is in patient comfort. Because Radio Frequency works by a process known as Selective Electro-Heating reaction, which is the ability of the device to heat deep into the dermis where it causes the desired effect.
It is important to remember that the thermal effect should be endothermic, that is, heat is developed inside the body through the current and not in the device hand piece which is in contact with the skin.
Medi Plus utilizes the optimum frequency of 1Mhz. This frequency represents the best frequency for reaching the necessary depth where the aesthetic problem lies, while avoiding action that is too invasive.
Thanks to this 1 Mhz frequency, the endothermic effect spreads gradually across the skin layers, stimulating them in a pleasant and gentle way, and giving the operator the possibility to work for a longer period of time, and therefore ones sees better results.
Differences in Device Cooling
One of the most significant differences that patients notice when being treated by the devices is the differing levels of patient comfort. Most patients report Thermage to be a painful experience.
Why is Thermage So Painful?
Apart from the previously discussed difference that Medi Plus works at Bi-Polar 1Mhz frequency, Thermage lacks a sophisticated cooling mechanism. it is one of the areas where the device shows it's age.
Thermage has only a cryo-cooling-spray. This is almost the least effective of cooling technologies currently available in the Radio Frequency market place.
Why is Medi Plus so comfortable?
Addtionally, Medi Plus is the most comfortable Radio Frequency devices available today because is utilizes the most effeicnet coling technology available globally, that if contact cooling. The cooling mechanism is integrsted into the treatment hand piece and as such does an incredibly efficient job of dispersing any heat on the skin surface.
The Differences between Contact Cooling and Cryo-Sray Cooling.
Essentially the differences can be summed up by an experience some many of us have had. Imagine a time when you were cooking and you accidently burnt yourself on a hot pan.
The difference between the two cooling technologies is like spraying cold water on the affected area or placing an ice cube on it instead. Which would you rather?
The inefficiency of Cryo-Spray cooling is one of the reasons why a substantial number of Thermage practitioners use an anaesthetic in conjunction with the treatment. It goes some way in overcoming the lack of comfort. However, one has to question why, when there exists better cooling technologies does the deivce not incorporate them like the Medi Pus does!
Price and Costs of Treatment
For some strange reason, Thermage is incredibly expensive to perform. Treatment prices for a full face for instance go into the 1000's.
To us, this seems a lttile riduculous as the technology is now dated and there are so many better options available, namely Medi Plus.
Medi Plus on the other hand, is the latest technology available globally and is priced incredibly competitvely at Therapolis.
Conclusion of Medi Plus Vs Thermage
Well, if you want to take out a mortgage, use a device that is painfull and also has out-dated inferior technology, you would choose Thermage.
However, at Therapolis, our policy is to import the world's latest advanced in med-aesthetic and cosmetic technology. As such, we have carefully chosen the Medi Plus radio Frequency , because it utilises the superior Bi-Polar Radio Frequency, technology at an effective 1Mhz frequency, with the most advanced and comfortable cooling system currently available.
In addtion, at Therapolis, we beleieve in making the latest technologies affordable and so our Radio Frequency treatments are one tenth of the price of a Thermage treatment.
So in the end it is up to you. All we can do is inform you of your options, give you the benefit of our expertise and allow you to make your decisions.
